The river behind our house is clean again. Ten years ago a factory put poison in the water, and all the fish died. Now the water flows clear, and the turtles are back.

A snail is a tiny animal with a soft body. Many snails live in gardens and near ponds. They eat green leaves at night.
Farmers do not like them, because snails can eat a whole field of young plants. Some farmers use poison to kill them, but the poison also hurts birds and fish.
Today more farmers keep ducks. The ducks eat the snails, and the farm stays clean. This way is slow, but it is safe for the environment.
蝸牛是一種身體柔軟的小小動物。許多蝸牛住在花園裡和池塘邊。牠們在夜裡吃綠色的葉子。
農夫不喜歡牠們，因為蝸牛可以吃掉一整片田的幼苗。有些農夫用毒藥殺牠們，但那些毒也會傷到鳥和魚。
現在有更多農夫改養鴨子。鴨子會吃蝸牛，農場也保持乾淨。這個方法比較慢，但對環境是安全的。
