Join our free classes at the City Library!
The classes are free, but each class takes only twenty people. Please sign up before Friday. Please bring your own notebook. Everyone is welcome, young or old.
Our library is next to the city park. Take bus number six and get off at Green Street.
Dear Mr. Lin,
Thank you for helping my mother last Saturday. She could not carry the heavy boxes to the sixth floor. You came at once, and you did not take any money.
My mother wants to say sorry, too. Our dog barked all night and woke you up. She will keep him inside after ten.
We will have a small party next Sunday. You are very welcome to come.
Yours,
Amy Chen
Taichung is one of the biggest cities in Taiwan. Its population is now more than two million. Fifty years ago, most people there were farmers. Today many of them work in factories, shops and offices.
A big city gives people more jobs, but life there is not always easy. Houses are expensive, and the roads are busy. Some poor families live in very small rooms. For them, city life is not as easy as it looks. Social workers say the city must help them more.
One hundred students in our school joined these clubs this year.
| Club | Boys | Girls |
|---|---|---|
| Basketball | 24 | 8 |
| Music | 9 | 21 |
| Art | 6 | 14 |
| Reading | 4 | 14 |
No student could join more than one club. The music club will give a concert this winter.
