New Year Around the World

People around the world have their own New Year traditions. In Taiwan, families clean the house and eat a big traditional dinner together. Children get red envelopes because red is the color of good luck.

In Spain, people eat twelve grapes at midnight. In Japan, many families visit a temple and pray for a healthy year.

These customs look different, but the belief behind them is the same. People simply hope that the new year will be better than the last one.
